I’ve googled and searched and I can’t find anything on it. It’s like a chalky white. When I wet his shell to clean it, it disappears. But when his shell dries it comes back?
I’ve had him 3yrs. Since he was a baby

Hey jessica, Without a photo its impossible to know for sure. But this sounds like shell whitening which is normal and comes with age and repeated wear and tear that comes with dragging a shell around. Its not really possible to prevent except that it can come also from too acidic soil so if you get the chance you can add a little calcium carbonate to it and that'll balance it out. But don't expect it to make any difference to whats already on the snail, unfortunately its permanent but it doesn't do any damage; its just aesthetic.
