One of our snails (Snubby) has a broken shell. Does anyone have any information on how to fix his shell? He has a small hole on the side of his shell on the coil or swirl part of his shell. It does have some peat moss or soil inside of it, which I have been trying to clean out very gently. I am afraid of breaking it more so I do not know what else to do to clean that out. I have been using water and a soft damp cloth to get the dirt out, but does not seem to be working as much as I would like. At least Snubby does not seem to mind me cleaning him daily to get that clean. Snubby has been helping me also because he no longer buries himself in the dirt since he broke his shell. Snubby also has not been going into his shell since he broke it. Is this normal for them not to go inside the shell if it is broken?

Most shell damage will repair itself provided you give your snail a balance diet high in calcium. Do you have any pics of the shell damage? I wouldn't worry too much... maybe you could gently run the damage under a tap to flush out the dirt?
Keep us posted and good luck!

Sorry no pics, I did run the damage under the tap and now the dirt is out. Snubby seems to be doing better now and is also going back into his shell. We will see if he can repair it on his own. It is just a small hole in the shell. Thanks for your advice. I will keep you posted.
