Hello! I found this poor guy outside and had to take him in..he has the strangest white bump between his eye stalks here is a photo: ibb.co/3pSkGBtPoor guy looks like he’s been through a war, also definitely has the bad snail mites which he’s being treated for.Just wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be?? I can’t seem to find anything about it.. I’ve had him for about 5 days and it still looks the same.. thanks for any advice 🙏🏻💖🐌✨

Hey! so, im also having trouble finding even a sliver of info on this, so ima aks you some questions for better results- 1: What species is he? if you dont know can i see a few more photos of him? 2: Does the bump seem to bother him? like- does he try to remove it with his foot or something?? 3: Where did you find him? not exact, just country.
Also, i have a small theory based off this post on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/snails/comments/q816kf/my_gals_contracted_some_disease_white_stuff_on/ he could have had to much calcium?? and the extra calcium that he doesnt need is building up since his shell doesnt need it?? if you awnser my questions i might be able to comfirm/deny this but idk- :,)

Thank you for your reply, I’m located in the Netherlands so he was found behind my house by a pathway, he is a helix aspersa, unsure how to tell age.. the area I found him in seems like rough conditions as the sun was beaming on him and thought maybe his shell color may have been a result of that.. or age or possibly lack of calcium?the bump doesn’t seem to bother him, gets on just fine although he has a terrible case of the riccardoella mites, sadly most wild caught snails here are loaded with those. Unsure if that plays any part.. he has cuttlebone and the hypoaspis miles with him, the bump seems to have not changed since finding him..happy to post more photos if that would help! Appreciate you even attempting to help me find out what this is! 🙏🏻☺️

So, judging by where you found him, my theory about too much calcium is probably wrong. along with the fact that when snails have too much calcium it crystalizes inside their blood and can kill them- WAIT HELP- I THINK THATS ITS WEINER- LOOK AT THIS POST RQ: https://www.reddit.com/r/snails/comments/qczgin/my_snail_has_a_white_lump_on_his_body_and_wont_go/

haha that made me laugh 😂 I looked at the pic, I think that’s located ion the snails side? Hard to really tell from the pic but as far as I know the peen/ female part is on their side, but I know when they get snorny their is a lump that can form right where my little guy has this weird little white one..but usually it’s not white.. anyway again appreciate your efforts to help solve the white lump bump mystery ☺️

Its possible that its either a side effect of the mites (i need to research a bit more into this though) , or maybe your right about hiim being snorny?? this is a hard case to crack but im gonna try to help along the way lol. its possible he could be going through snail puberty though?? im a little less sure on this though, since snail puberty kinda looks more swelled rather than the way yours looks.

Honestly I’ve never been able to really tell the age of snails, but this poor guy looks like he’s seen a lot, so I think we can rule out the puberty stage as he seems like possibly an older snail based on the lip on his shell and just his overall condition. I thought maybe something got on his skin outdoors that may have caused a reaction? But I’m no expert, and like you mentioned I also don’t see anything really about this either.. just hoping it’s not something more serious 😞
