Give them a bit of time to settle down I'm sure they will be fine, and yes give them cuttle and the shell will repair itself. Val

I think that it can take time for snails to get used to a new environment. my nemoralis arrived on friday and two of them are still hiding most of the time. I would just keep a close eye on them. And as Val said ,give them a little time. mickysnail

There have been studies that suggest snails learn to 'map' their habitat - ie they know the location of food, hiding places etc in the case of pet snails I guess they know the location of everything in their tank. So I guess your margies are a little nervous as they are in a new location and haven't learnt where everything is yet, and they haven't learnt that your presence in the room does not mean a predator is around - I am sure as the others said they will soon settle in and become used to your presence. My baby albino fulicas were much the same when I got them a few weeks ago but are now very relaxed, regular gentle handling is good to 'tame' them also - mine don't go back in their shells when picked up at all now.
