Hi guys,
I did a really stupid thing and would appreciate your thoughts...
I accidentally switched off the heat mat for my snails when moving some furniture, without a thought I switched it back on.. as you do...
Later that evening I checked the snails to find that my Fulica must have been stuck to the glass with the heat mat on when it was cold and had then become somewhat warmed!! she had retracted a little and needed a nice bath to bring her out. That was a week ago, and although she is easting she always seems to be a little retracted and lethargic and just not her usual self. Before this happened I used to chuckle thinking she was too fat to retract as she had never done so, even when at rest.
Other than plenty of baths and good food, can anyone advise anything else to perk her up... I'm really worried.
Thanks in advance.
A rather guilty feeling Adam.

I wouldn't think the heat mat will have been warm enough to damage her in any way as they provide a gentle heat - she won't have been burnt by it. I think what you have suggested seems the best course of action.

My snails often slime up the glass where the heat mat is stuck, they don't seem to mind the heat at all, I would think if your snail became uncomfortable it would have slimed off, not just stayed there and 'roasted' even snails aren't that stupid!! what you are noticing is probably just coincidental and nothing to worry about. don't feel guilty, I would have done the exact same thing.
