i dont think the "newb" culture on forums applies here personly, I try to help where I can, what post where you or another member needed specific help wasnt answered at all? I know the mods or admin dont post much at the moment but thats down to them, and dont reflect the forum at all in my opinion. edited to add: if your interested in Snails, another good forum to join is www.bugnation.co.uk the Snail section there is good, and theres always members posting help and advice on all different species of inverts.

I have just come online-the time being 9.15pm! I noticed your post was made at about 5.30pm.You don't give people much time to actually get online and reply! Most people on this forum are busy working folk, who only get chance to come online later in the evening, and then would be only too happy to help!

People he have been very helpful towards me. It maybe a case of waiting for someone to come online who can answer your question. It is better not to post a reply than write something that could be bad advice. I have had one or two unanswered posts but I presume that the people that have read the posts don't know the answers, NOT that the people here are unhelpful. mickysnail

i'm sorry... but you must not have been on very many forums 1. you cannot expect an instant answer if nobody is even online 2. people on forums don't see anybody as a newb 3. if you need a question answered instantly... just go on google =]

im disapointed in this forum in the beggining intro wants people to join and yet you get many veiws on posts but no one replies or helps it seems many people see your a newb and just brush you off so its down to old trial and error for me thanks for nothing guys what a shame I'm sorry you feel that way, I think in your case it's just one of those things. Forums are strange phenomena. This forum has peaks and troughs of activity. I've not been answering many posts recently, I do try to keep up reading what is going on but I'm building up to an implementation of a project I've been working on for the last 18 months so I've not really had much time. Also, with questions from newbies I figure that someone else will answer. I think that is what happens, people come on really enthused and dying to answer everything they can, but then take a back seat after a while when they see the same questions coming up again. You've just slipped through the net this time. Also, forums are split into two loose groups in my opinion. Those who like to hang around and chat etc., and those who want new stuff to happen, new information etc. I see it almost as having a traditional magazine subscription. As anyone who has at some point will know, at the beginning everything discussed is new and very interesting because of it. But as you become more knowledgable you kind of wish the magazine would move with you. It's not that anybody minds but they're less inclined to participate in threads they've experienced before or spent time writing answers to a number of times. Really, it is up to us who've been around for a while to raise new topics so as people gain more knowledge they have more to participate in and stick around but that's tricky because there are far more days than discoveries! So, as a consequence I think forums rotate in cycles of activity. You just have to be patient. The people on this forum are consistently good at replying to threads normally. I think we all consciously try to ensure everyone get's an answer. It just takes time sometimes. If you don't receive an answer and your message is so far down the list, you know no-one who hasn't already seen it will do, bump it by adding a new post to the thread. I often post at daft o'clock in the morning, so by evening they've usually dropped of the recent posts list.

I'm sorry I've not been too talkative lately, what with the school hols, new pets, and not being too well lately, replying to folks has taken a back burner. I am still reading though - and I hope you change your mind and stick about, we welcome everyone here - new, old, regular, un-regular (erm...you know what I mean), young, haggard and old like me... Stick about - things may go quiet now and again, but you can generally rely on folks helping when you need 'em, just give them a chance to get online and reply
