Hi.
I just sprayed my fulica for the night, and one of them has a white thing hanging out of his mouth..
I have a horrible suspicion he has "sicked up" his internal organs, but is still alive and well!
How did this happen??? is it something i have done??
but above all, how do i help him!? is there anything i can do? Theres nowhere he can eat like that! And if i cannot help him, how do i "put him down" humanely!?
What causes this? is it a regular occurance?
i havent had them long, i dont know the age, i have had snails before, but never seen anything like this at all!

My snails was still the same this morning. i euthanised him, there was no way he could eat like that, and i wasnt going to sit and watch him die of starvation. I still dont know the best way to do this, i took him to the vet, and they put him to sleep with gas. Does anyone have any experience of this? will his partner go the same? i need to find another adult fulica now, as a partner for the one left, i hate to think of him as lonely (do snails get lonely?) any advice would be appreciated, i am devastated, i only had him for 4 days

www.petsnails.co.uk/problems/gut_extrusion.html#start I hope this can help. It sounds like this problem to me. when I had to have two of my snails euthinaised I had it done by a vet. It was the kindest thing to do. I am sorry for your loss If it Is gut extrusion I don't think it would be contagious. Keep us updated about the snail you still have.

:(My other snail has suffered the same thing tonight does anyone have any idea why both snails suffered this so-called "rare" thing, and do i need to worry about my other snails which may have come into contact with them? thats my adults, both gone now i still have some hatchlings though (thanks NIx), and some eggs from the snails

im not an expert on this prob and paniced when i first came across this problem but i have noticed it happening to a few fulicas how i had a freind whos snail did the same and a week later on of mine did the same so i took notes a week later a snail in another tank did the same i know it sound odd but i think mine was down to to much humidity and heat in the tank as whenever the tank has steamed up and got wet i seamed to loss a snail im sure these snails like a dryer cooler tank yes they love a bath and a light spray but a dryer tank works best for these snails i have had fulica well over 11 years
