Hi everyone,
To be honest I'm really worried about my Mega. Over the past weak he has been frothing like mad, often to be found surrounded by froth. He is unwilling to come out and to be honest I don't think he's eating either.
The other snails are fine.
Has anyone else with Megas experienced anything similar? I'd be so gutted if I lost him.

Adam, one of my megas did exactly the same thing!!! OK, the frothing is due to stress, the other snails are stressing him in someway, I found that my one had rasping marks on his shell so I moved him to a small tank on his own and now he is fine.

personally, i'd keep Megalobulimus in a species tank, i remember reading years ago (i cant remember where?) that keeping Snails from different continents together (Megalobulimus, Achatinids, Helix etc..) isnt a good idea, and will cause problems, like the spreading of parasites, diseases etc.. I noticed my first two Megalobulimus oblongus haemastomus frothed frequently shortly before they died, I havent noticed this with my other ones though.

My frothing mega was in a tank just with other megas, no other species but one of them was rasping on him I think probably because this one is smaller. I washed the froth off him and separated him and now he is growing well and is fine, I think this 'frothing' definitely is caused by stress.

Thanks Val and Kevin - it's only a recent thing, he has shown no other signs of being stressed until this week, I'm getting a bad feeling about him, but am off to get him his own tank today so I can isolate him... fingers crossed.

Hi Val,
He's still not great, kept him in a small isolaotion tank at around 28 c and 90% humidity which has stopped him retracting and he is no longer frothing. I'm hoping he is on the road to recovery but he still seems to have a way to go... I'll keep you all posted.

Have you tried offering him very very thin slices of sweet potato and the same of courgette? Mine can't resist either of these.
