I know there are a few Tropical fish buffs out there, just wondered if anyone could ID my catfish for me. Had them for years and always thought they were called Jelly-Belly Cats - think someone was taking the piss outa me there lol. I'm more up on tropical marine so if anyone could help I would be really grateful ;D I apologise for the picture quality - they are a nightmare to get a picture of!! Anjie,x.

THANK YOU SIAN!!! I knew you'd know, I should have just asked you in the first place lol. I just took the photo up to my fishy shop and they told me they were megaladora's, he showed me one in their tank and they looked the same as mine but were stripey ;D is that what you have Sian?? These are my favourite fishies, they are soo cute and fat and I love their eyes Like i said I've had them for years and years and they have lived their entire lives bundled in a big divers helmet ornament thingy. I had a big outbreak of whitespot after the addition of a figure of 8 puffer, I lost my Royal Whiptail (WAHHHHHHHH ) who i bought at the same time as the fatty-cats. The cats have recovered extremely well and my water quality is back to being spot on - so i bought a gorgeous Snowpall Plec today and he's proper gorg!! Anjie,x.

Lol. I'm still stealing them They'd look great with our 5 stripeys. This is our fattest and oldest one. Megalodoras are much much bigger fish but the family is Doradidae so they got the dora bit right lol. I've seen so many different names for them all though. It's mad! www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=143Have you ever had a run in with their spines? Evil lol. They're sods for getting caught on nets too. It took about 10 minutes to get the last 3 we bought unstuck from the net and into the bag

Yep he's a lovely spotty raphael I used to have two striped oned until I told the contents of my first big cichlid tank, when we took them out they were ten times as big as when they went in - and a zillion times fatter. Talking catfish are notoriously greedy and will over eat, so much so they look like they've swallowed golf balls Here were mine when we first got them: I've got a few pleccies now, my rusty plec (L77) called, erm, Rusty. My common bristlenose, Mr Spoon (bit bigger now and he has some bristles): My other common bristlenose, but albino version, Wilf. Gordon the flash plec (L204) The whiptails (only one pictured but they're both the same, un-named as they're my hubby's and you cant tell them apart anyway!). And in about half an hour I should have a baby albino common plec (liposarcus pardalis), and I'm also going to be having Kathy's juvie gibby, De Niro Yes, I do have BIG tanks (2 x 6fts)...

Ps. Gordon brought in white spot too, we lost 5 clown loaches and a baby severum to it despite intensive treatment. Others are pulling through well though now, wont be long til they're in the big tank

I just paid £25 for my little Snowball and he's teeny tiny but oh soo pretty ;D Here's a pic of my Royal Whiptail that I lost last week (sob sob) His favourite past-time was sucking on the frogs lol anything that didn't move quick enough got the hoover treatment ;D Bless him.

Awww sorry to hear about that, he was gorgeous ;D Your piccies are so much better *stamps feet and prays Santa brings her a new camera although she thinks Santa is skint after he bought her T5 lighting for her new 6ft tank* Got me a baby common plec, he's not a pink albino - he's a choccie one, so kind of red/brown. I know they're not an L number but I have a soft spot for the biggies, and my tank cant handle another wood-eater like a royal panaque Rusty poos enough sawdust thank you very much...

Oooo pleccy heads here too? Ace. Here are some pics of mine: My panaque nigrolineatus (Royal Panaque) - hasn't got a name yet despite me having had him months. Poofish (name says it all). He's an ancsitrus species but we're unsure of which because he's not a common bristlenose. He's more...well...Poofish. Ned Flounders - the albino bristlenose. And my baby who has gone to live with Aunty Lisa now: De Niro the gibby. By far the most beautiful plec we've ever owned (highly under-rated). Second pic was about a month after we got him when he was only about 5". He's nearing 1ft now.
