Oh I can believe it - at least yours made the effort to dress up - the ones round here are usually teenagers, don't usually bother with dressing up and aren't interested in apples or sweets oh no - they want hard cash! Have worked out a way to deal with the 'carol singers' and Christmas though - they only ever know the first verse of 'We Wish you a Merry Christmas' so I usually ask them to sing a really obscure carol - oh dear they don't know it - no effort no reward ;D Oh and they usually start trying it on around November

How come we only get kids asking for their footballs back? Well this week anyway.
No doubt there'll be a huge influx of trick or treaters/guy fawkes/carol singers in the next few days. They think we're daft and we dont notice them swapping their masks round so they look like different kids.
Hmm I'll try toothpaste and apples methinks this year. No money - haven't got any LOL

Do they not own a calendar?! lol Bit early! We stuck a note on our door last year saying no sweets here only hungry dogs ;D It worked well..... can't think why We've got one of those sign things that the police or whoever have been sending out this year but I think we should still put a hungry dogs note too, wont be any fun otherwise

PS Since I have the electric front gate built, it's one of the best things that I spent my money on, no more door knockers, rubbish cataloges. Just peace all year round. ;D

We're not meanies, we're trying to keep the bloody peace lol. If people knock on our door our dogs bark and they bark loudly -which is what they're supposed to to as they're guarding the house- but we don't want the neighbours moaning because they're doing it at night lol.
We don't get that many trick or treaters anyway. Last time it was just a few older ones.
I don't know where all the little kids go, there's quite a few round here!

Hey we're not meanies, we're trying to keep the bloody peace lol. You want peace? May be you should move in with me. I have a wooden shed in the back garden, probably enough room for you and your mini menagerie. Def you will have lots of peace.

Thats the part I couldn't figure out either Sian. Why are they trick or treating 5 days before halloween?? My husband didn't say a word to them, just slammed the door shut.

What a load of spoil sports! I think it's sad people are scared to send their kids trick or treating, halloween's been spoilled. We had a great party last night though. Me and Sam went as Jack and Sally from the nightmare before Christmas and we dressed caleb as a pumpkin.

I'm sick of doing halloween parties, we're never invited out to someone else's LOL So this year we're not having one, we're watching a vid with the kids instead. Trick or treating isn't going to happen, it's not safe any more like it used to be when we were all kids. And no matter how much they beg and say they're old enough (9 and 11), the kids aren't ever going trick or treating alone. They're not allowed out when it's dark anyway I hate it when kids come round without their parents knocking on doors. How do their parents know we're not pyschos or something. No-one cares about their kids any more.

I remember even back in the 70's some of the weird crap people used to put in the candy when I last went out as a kid (till I was about 11) I shudder to think what they could do nowadays. It's just not a safe thing to do.

Eh well, I'm taking mine out for the first time ever. I always used the excuse that they were too young, but it's caught up with me. We were never allowed to Trick or Treat as kids as mum saw it as begging, but my lot have had a pretty crap time recently so I've conceded this once.

I dont like trick or treating, its not fun and you probably lose money on it even if you are the ones doing it. They go out and buy a lame costume, walk around knocking on doors foor hours and get a couple of pounds worth of sweets. Actually i hate it. My bedroom window looks over the front door so i could have some fun

wow Felix that's a rather gruesome avatar. Made me laugh though ;D
I think I might turn all the lights off tonight, then get one of those signs that says like 'DANGER:ROTTWEILER' and put it on the door. Then all the sweets will be mine ;D
