Hi, it's correct Gail
I should have done one guide, but I haven't had time. Sorry for that, I'll try to do one asap.
Some quick notes until you have the full guide. Use moss (spaghnum preferably). Pour boiling water over the moss before using in order to kill possible bugs. Soak the moss in colder water and squeeze out all water. You will then have moss that is moist but not wet. Find suitable containers. Smaller snails can be packed together as long as the container is big. I use hard packed moss to seperate the snails from each other. For larger ones, use plenty of moss to make sure that the snail won't hit the container if the parcel is accidently dropped. The more the better. When all snails are packed, label all containers with their scientific names, to keep the species seperated for the new owner.
Then we move on to the outer "shell". All containers must be kept out of bumping in to each other, if not, they will most likely be damaged. I usually use creased newspaper. It's cheap and every one have a newspaper at home.
Just think of it as you are going to send raw eggs with the post. If you think an egg could stay intact if the parcel was dropped at the floor, all snails would be fine as well.
Best wishes Fredrik

Yes beautifully explained you wont have to expand much on that for the complete guide. Maybe that should go on the information pages. Gail

Talking of sending raw eggs, I am sure you can get purpose made polystyrene packaging for posting eggs, it may be ideal for snails up to eggs size ?

What a useful post - Have to admit I am now tempted to try sending a raw egg through Royal mail to see how good my packaging techniques are!
