I am always looking for different species of snails and slugs from around the world online, with not much success...but I sometimes find them available in other parts of europe, africa and other countries...But i havent enquired about them upto now, ive wondered do I need any permits or anything to be able to accept live snails and slugs from countries outside the UK? I have always wanted to get some Banana Slugs, their from the US..and am sure I could find them for sale in N.America if I looked good enough, but how can I have them exported? Thanks

Legally or illegally. I dispatch Worldwide snails well packed. if the parcel is not more than 1 kg and is dispatched as a letter or Priority I do not declare it as a Snails. I also never write snails. The only problem to send from living animals is swiss. There give prioriy is, there the package is declared as a present. Whether is it unlawful?? Ever agree also from Cuba always snails as a letter without the duty what would have said.
@ Kevin i have Interesting on Lignus Intertinctus .... see my Snails ...

that was kind confusing. What rules would there be for the United States? I read somewhere that Giant African Land Snails are illegal, but what about the others?

GALS are illegal in the US. Other species are illegal as well, but it depends on your state or county. I'm not sure if you'd need to check with the US Dept. of Agriculture or with a state-level agency, though.

One of the forum members has asked me if I would consider posting to Finland. Can anyone answer me a few questions re exporting and posting snails to Finland.
Has anyone sent snails here or to another Eu country? Are they illegal in finland? (Achatina Fulica Hamillei and Reticulata) What is the best way to send them? I assume via international signed for, airmail post 3 day service. Do I have to declare what is in the parcel as I think there are restrictions on sending live specimens, or do I have to put anything on the outer packaging.
Sorry about all the questions but I need to be certain before I send them as I don't want to cause ant problems at either end.
Thanks Jo ;D

I'm not sure about this. I hope someone from Canada knows and posts the answer here.
Have you tried looking at the Canadian postal regulations website? It may wind up being an exercise in futility, but you might get lucky and find the info you're looking for.
