The snail that I saw looked a lot like a stripy version of this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruticicola_fruticum but it says they're extinct in the UK. Interestingly, I've seen plain white/grey/dappled white/grey snails a lot like that in my garden and local park areas. Does anyone know whether there's a type of snail similar to that in the UK?

Perhaps it was, but they were much smaller and very pale - either off-white or a very pale cream. I would have investigated further, but they were on the stems of bullrushes and sedge in a boggy area beside the path I was on. Maybe they were a watersnail, but they were quite a way above the surface, near the top of the stems.

I think I might have seen both around about, so the type I saw could have been one of those. Thank you.

Thanks Morningcoffee. I get a small number in my garden on and off, from when the bit of land the electricity board/company allowed us to hire and renovate (we have a substation next to our house) was wasteland. There are a nice lot at our local park though - both species - but I've never seen any stripes on them. That's why I thought the stripy ones were a different species. I think Mr Harrison is a Cernuella virgata. If I could find a good picture of him, I'd explain why. By the way, I know it sounds daft, trying to find out the species of a fictional snail. The thing is, I'd already seen a type of snail that looked like it could have at least been used as inspiration. I also know that Cosgrove Hall paid a great deal of attention to detail. I wish there were at least some good screen captures available so that I could show you all what I mean.

Hi there,
I work with a production company and would love to talk with someone with many snails that allows their snails to crawl on their face/body as a beauty treatment. The company is creating a major documentary series and would love to learn more about the process and how it has effected your life!
Do you know someone who engages in this treatment too much? Do they have more snails than you can imagine?!
For consideration, please reply with your name, age, contact information, and brief explanation of how this habit is taking over your life. You can also contact my team directly at 312-467-8145 or 20westcastingteam@gmail.com.
Everything will remain confidential. Thank you for sharing your story! Hope to hear from you soon!
