At last... Today, 9 baby velvet slugs have hatched. They are about 3 mm long and are busy eating the empty egg cases. First of many I hope. ;D

The first batch were laid on July 13th. Hatched September 9th. So, 58 days!

yes i sometimes dont understand why snail/slug eggs take so long, even longer than birds eggs and theyre much bigger :s

well were they kept at a cooler temperature

Many species of slug overwinter as eggs, so maybe these have to survive the dry season? The average temperature under the racks in my shed is about 70F. These were kept there.
