Hes eating!!!!!!!!!! Not just tasting either, hes curled round a piece of courgette devouring it ;D Omg I tell you I never believed I'd see it. I'm not convinced hes out of the woods yet, still VERY thin, and hasn't touched cuttlefish in weeks. But its a bit of hope. Omg, in shock. Going to sit down Nat

Haha I wish I knew. I've only done what everyone else has. I did clean the tanks this afternoon, washed all the moss etc. Probably nothing to do with it though.

By the way this is a pic I took a few weeks ago, though he did retract much further at times. Now, as if eating wasn't enough......... He's the bottom one. Him and Meat were pretty much the same size about 6 weeks ago. An hour or 2 after I took that pic, I looked in the tank and they were attached but seperated after a few minutes. So I don't know if they were mating or not. Definatly 'attatched' though. How long do fulica mate for? I either missed it and it only lasted an hour. Or they decided nah not now we got eyes on us! I was shattered though and went to bed so no idea what happened after that. This morning he is stuck to the tank side, which is another thing he hasn't done for weeks. He used to try and then retract so far he would fall off. Then the past 2 weeks hasn't moved more than a few inches around the bottom. Still in shock, Nat

Nat, are you saying he seems to be recovering fully now?
I hope so, coz this will be the first one to pull-through as far as I know. How long has he been ill for now?
I've been collecting all thoughts and info on this as you know and I think it is a virus, if yours is the same as what mine suffered, which I think it is.

Well Paul. I don't know, I hope so. He certainly hasn't looked very ill since I spotted him eating last night. But I don't want to say yes I really think he is, in case I'm in for a shock. If you saw how ill he was still just a few days ago... well you have seen it in your own. It was a struggle to move just a couple of inches across the tank, he was so far retracted you could only see a few mm of his foot, it was all mantle or whatever it is, and the amount of weight he lost was unbelievable. But for now, he's going in the right direction. I will do some chicken mash and hemp tonight now I know hes eating and see if I can build him back up. He still got a lot of weight to gain back. I don't 'think' I've done anything different. For the first few weeks I tried all I could with tempting him to eat. Every food under the sun actually. But the past few weeks I've left him to it, seeing if maybe he just wanted to be left alone. All I did was sit him (his shell it seemed) on the food dish when I woke the others. I did clean the tanks thoroughly yesterday, including rinsing all the moss through. But I've done that before I wish I had an answer to help I'll keep you updated on how it goes. Nat

Oh and his sibling I got the same day, has been showing similar signs the past few days which is worrying. Retracting but waking up. Eaten some days and not others, and the edge of his shell is looking like he's just come out of Brixton Nothing like the other one was yet and I hope he doesn't. I'll weigh him later see how thats going.

Just weighed them. The original one thats been very ill has actually gained about 3g in just over a week. The other 1 thats started showing similar signs hasn't changed - first time no gain since I've had him Grr 1 improves and the other one starts. Anyway they have both eaten a bit of chicken mash with hemp and pumkin seeds Not much, but more than a taste. Nat

What do you mean by weight control? I don't control mine. Just wish he would gain some more. I weigh and measure all my snails on a weekly basis to moniter their growth

Update on my poorly fulica Longterm poorly 1 - Break. He has eaten again tonight, a fairly decent amount of chicken mash, hemp and pumpkin seeds. Weighs 28g so has gained 3g in about 3 weeks. Shell is a mess still not touched cuttlefish, have started powdering it al over the food. Still very inactive and needs waking up, a long way to go, but I am now hopeful. Recently poorly 1 - Slim This 1 started showing the same signs as Break about a week to 2 weeks ago. Retracts quite deep, into his shell and not eating much. Is eating a bit each night though. Shell stopped growing and gone brittle so length has 'shrunk'. He hasn't gained any weight for about 4 weeks but not lost any yet. Here is a pic of them eating tonight. The 2 middle fulica, break is nearer the back. Nat
