yeh so the margies are in a tank with some quite dry coir (otherwise it gets all wet and saturated) and theres loads of eggs in there and Anjie told me to leave them so I did and yesterday i was cleaning the snails out and while i was turning over the soil i found a newborn margie and i was surprised it hatched in dry substrate but unfortunately i accidentally damaged the edge of the shell and some coir got stuck up there but anyway the snails moving around but havent seen it eat yet. i put her in the capillary matting baby tank.

Congrats! What type of margie Mike? I found a suturalis baby yesterday. I'm so glad, these were the ones we thought were papyracea, the really distinct ones that are quite small, 9-10cm fully grown. The baby is absolutely bright pink/red! I'll get some pics. I'm really happy because Catherine sent me a baby which never made it, the ones to Fredrik's took something ridiculous like 2-3 months!! One of my first adults was dead on arrival and another had the mantle collapse. I was beginning to think this is the end of this line, and they were wild-caught in Cameroon so we known something about them. My first clutch didn't hatch and I now suspect it is because I moved the eggs. This is from the 2nd batch which I left alone and I've just found a new clutch laid on the surface. Only 1 baby so far but I hope they'll be plenty to share. Usually it seems suturalis are very similar to other margies but these are very different.

its an ovum. I'm hoping for the best because ive only ever hatched one margie baby before this, and because i kept it with the adults, it wasnt a baby-friendly environment so it died. this one is with all the other babies in a nice humid tank with lots of cuttlefish and food. im worried about the soil stuck up its shell tho... wow the red baby sounds loverly ;D i'd love to see pics.

I moved mine out into a different tub as soon as I spotted him, I remember you saying. This is my first margie baby so I'm hoping to get some real good close-ups of the nepionic whorls. I'll do them like I did the worm pictures.
I'm sure the soil will be worked out by the mantle soon enough, I've seen it before when I've sprayed them and some soil had been pushed up to high. They must be adapted to that with all the burying. My 2nd ventricosa baby once had loads of faeces inside it's pneumostome, like it's bowels had burst somewhere and the faeces was directly getting into the breathing hole. Or it had got lodged in there somehow. I pulled loads of it out and I was really worried. But it survived and is doing great so if they can cope with that yours should be fine.

Lovely suturalis, i only have 1 adult suturalis and 2 babies, 1 marginata and 3 ovum.
Are var. marginata rarer to find than S & O, because i have been looking for another for ages and with no luck
