Hi,
This is probably in another thread somewhere but I cannot find it.
How thick is thickly sliced?
How many times have people read or stated that sweet potato is to be thickly sliced for various reasons.
But how thick is thickly sliced? Is it anything but thinly sliced? Is chunks or pieces if sweet potato rather than slices. I really don't know!!
Does any one know?

I do the exact opposite, I slice it as thinly as I can because I find it's easier for them to eat, it acceptable to more species that way and though it dries out quickly it doesn't become hard and rubbery because they consume what I provide more quickly. It's more economical in that way if you see what I mean.

I tend to use a potato peeler and peel strips of sweet potato. They seem to eat more of it that way than when I put chunks in. The same goes for carrot.

Due to my feeding routine, I prefer thicker slices... I find athough the top layer drys, the snails still readily consume sweet potato days after its been introduced. This way I dont have to add food as often About 5-10mm thick dependant on species.

I have used sweet potato in slices varying from as thin as possible to about 0.5cm thick, and find my snails eat it whichever way. Maybe I have especially greedy snails!

I slice mine as thinly as I can as well, I find that most of the snails eat it more readily that way. Val

For very young snails, or small species, I slice very thin, just slightly thicker than paper thin. For big snails, I slice about a half inch thick or more, then cut those in half. I used to peel them before slicing, but found that some of them like the peels, so leave them on now. The ones that don't like peel just eat around it.

My aspersa eats more if everything is sliced paper-thin.
