Hi all Well I thought I'd better come on and after reading the many posts about this snail society I must say I haven't seen much in the way of aquatic snails mentioned. Now I don't personally know to any aquatic snail society otherwise I'd be a member , so I guess what i'm hoping is that this society will in some shape or form include the aquatic side of things. I mean at the end of the day a snail is a snail whether it be land or aquatic from Fulcia's to the common ramshorns , I'd like to see other peoples opinions on this. I don't know what kind of assistance I could be with this society as I'm not very good at many things plus having ill health kinda limits me also but I am willing to help with what I can when I can ... although unfortunately I can't commit 100% due to this stupid illness , I can be fine one day and terrible the next 3 days ... so with me it's rather hit and miss I'm afraid ... but as i say I will do what I can when I can if my limited talents can be used lol. Anyway I'd like to see what response there is to the aquatic side of things , I'll be watching closely Many thanks Darren @ snails2die4

Funny that Daz, I posted a link to the threads earlier on your site in an effort to get more aquatic owners involved. Great minds and all that.... This society will be whatever those willing to contribute make it. Aquatic snails are gastropods and I don't think there was ever any doubt about them being included. I have posted before on your site about this idea but not really heard much in the way of responses. So, the society can focus on aquatic stuff as much as aquatic owners are willing to get involved. The newsletter has reinvigorated the idea and given us something to focus on so I thought I'd resurrect it over on your site.

Well won't be much I can say about them as I don't and can't keep them Although I really wanted some. It was never thought that it would be just land snails though, but we need imput from aquatic snail owners, possible articles you want included, photos etc, maybe a little care guide Nat

Sweet! Hey there, you aren't alone. I too plan to keep aquatic snails, and even hope to breed them. I have my eye on some Purple Apple Anails, and maybe later some blue ones. Lovely mutations they are! I will be including them as part of my snail family right along with the garden snails and my pair of Tigers when I manage to track them down as wee eggies. ;D
I am in a bit of a jam about the aquatic snails though, I can't decide between just keeping them in a regular aquarium with my future female bettas and zebra pleco, or to have each color of Apple Snail I collect in their own little aquarium. I supose they would be alright...until I decide to get some blue ones. Gah! They should probably be in their own aquarium for breeding anyway, and I could put the prettyest babies in my display aquarium. Ok, it's a plan! ;D

I think the reason for a lack of contribution is the existance of www.applesnail.net theyre pretty comprehensive.

Prehaps the members here that do keep aquatic snails could write something on them for the newsletter to help spark interest and let people know that I.G.S covers aquatic aswell as land snails.
