Hello all! I know I haven't been on much lately but I have today free so I'm posting some of my newest piccies for you all to enjoy: One of my newest snails. He is a C. Nemoralis with an odd facial colouring; it's much lighter than his body colour. I've only seen this the other way round on Iredalei. He also has the white/see-through stripes on his shell, I wonder if the two are related? This is to show the great variation in Aspersum body colouration. On the left is Token who I found in my garden the other day and on the right is one of the snails I found in Somerset. I knew there was some variation in body colour within a species, but not this much! This shows how much my aspersum from Somerset have grown since I got them back. It's easy to tell because all the new shell growth is of a darker colour. This is of Orville (L. fulica), one of my first snails (Cuddles being the other). He has grown a lot since I got him in late June, compare with back then: Thats a lot of growth!

Last night I found one of my Somerset snails (an aspersum) laying some eggs! Eeee! These are my first eggs. This morning I found 2 groups of exactly 15 each, so I removed them and placed them in a film canister with some damp soil (I didn't dare leave them where they were due to my ongoing mite problem). I'll be keeping them warm, how long will they take to hatch? Pic: Great eh?

well done I think aspersa eggs are quite easy to hatch. but probably dont keep them too warm, as they are british

I found another batch of about 20-30 eggs last night, most probably from the same snail. I havent seen any of my Somerset snails mating so I'm thinking it must have happened before I found them.

And presenting: Hercules! My tiger I got from Paul. Hes been doing great since I put him in quarantine with loads of new shell growth. I love his purpley-black body colour, its so different from all my other GALS. He currently joint smallest with one of my smithii at about 1.5-2cm shell length.
