no! they are totally different snails to GALS. They are tree snails and require a slightly different setup. I also had great success with them and found they preferred it slightly cooler than GALS.
Do a search of past threads, there is lots of info on lignus but being honest you should have done this before you got them.

Here are a couple past threads about Lignus www.petsnails.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=feeding&action=display&n=1&thread=2895www.petsnails.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=snailpictures&action=display&n=1&thread=3426put "lignus" into the search, there are lots and I can't put all the link up for you. Hope this helps. Like Brian has mentioned. Lignus are tree snails, you need to put some tree branches for them to slimy up, they do not bury, totally different from margies. And lignus do not need very humid envirnoment. And it's best to keep them apart from the GALs. Their diet is very different, they are pretty fussy eaters and only eat a few type of veg / fruit (that's I found out with putting different type of food in.) They like sweet potatos, cucumber (mainly the green part although they will eat the juicy part if there's no choice), courgette to name a few. They will also munch the cuttlefish if they are softer. edit: I also have excellent success with Lignus and they have laid eggs for months. They are not easy snails but if you keep up with their needed envirnoment, they are not hard to keep.

I found a live tree really helpful. They have a lemon tree in their tank and nibble the leaves and bark from it. They spend most of their time in the tree only comming down to the food bowl to eat. Like felix, mine love sweet potato and cucumber best, although they have also eaten sweet red peppers.

Thank you very much. They are now separated from the margies and i have just been out to get some hedge cuttings so they are now climbing all over them. I have put some cucumber everywhere so hopefully they will eat.

Wow thanks for that. Where did you get your tree from? can you get them from B&Q. I really like that idea.

The lemon tree was bought at the local garden center. I have 3 of them now. The first 2 from one garden center in the house plant section and the second one from a different garden centre this time in the outdoor section. Of coarse both visits i couldn't find them and had to ask staff

They were in with the margies for a few hours as i got another tank sorted i ment to ask was this ok for tonight. I thought this was ok as you packed them with the margie babies. They are now in their own tank eating really well as i spent ages hanging food everywhere. I look after my animals very very well.

for feeding I always found cucumber (mainly the skin) and sweet potato was a winner. Do not feed them on the floor of the tank, feed them high up in the branches. I also found that when I mounted my cuttlefish high in the branches they ate this too.
Goodluck with them, they are fantastic snails.

They are truely wonderful snails. The way they stretch their necks out from branch to branch, looking very much like a girraffe. Once they get used to handling they love to climb around your hands too. Mine eat from a bowl now. Although I don't think it's the natural way for them to eat. I cut cucumber in chunks and place it skin side up. They eat all the skin off, then bore holes into it to eat the middle bits. I did try a feeding tree, but didn't have much success with it myself. Glad it's working for you.

LOL, yes we talked on your board. *Don't confuse me with your ID again.*
I only have 11 adults, the rest are babies. Got lots of batches of eggs and most of them hatched. Just keep your fingers crossed that people will want these babies when they are ready to go.
