Don´t know, if this really fit´s into this sections, so moderators feel free to switch it to the section it belongs
My always kept alone Achatina immaculata var. immaculata laid eggs. I found them yesterday. They haven´t been there on Sunday, so they must be laid in the night between monday and tuesday. I removed them this morning and some of the eggs are already hatching (nothing new to me as I remember the eggs of last spring too to hatch between 2 and 5 days after being laid).
My immaculata had only contact to baby-immaculata-snails when he was born, all his siblings have gone to new homes. This snail was a very short time together with an young fulica (that is only 3 months old and no way sexually mature). As it is not proven, if immaculata and fulica can crossbreed I am starting a new experimnet with one of the this new hatchlings. It will be kept toghether with baby archachatinas (I personally do think, it is not okay to keep a snail on its own and crossbreeding with archachatina is impossible). Let´s see if this baby is too self-fertilizing then.
Pictures to come later (camera is broken - new one is on the way)
Kind regards,
Gabi
