i was thinking, in the british snail book for many species it says they live in chalk-rich soils, and their shells are made of chalk so maybe this is where they get calcium? so i grated chalk all over the substrate to see what happens, do u think it will help their shells?
i also made a mix of oats, apple, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chalk, cuttlefish, and powdered snail shells. i hope they like it.

i phoned small-life supplies asking for calcium pellets, they said the manufacturer changed the recipe,
but they recommended using egg shells. they said cut the egg shell in half and wash it, then put it in the tank, the snail crawls inside and starts eating it from the inside.
i never knew that, i thought it would be too hard for them.
kind regards
mike

I give mine eggshells occasionally. They crawl right inside and eat the white part inside the shell.

I read that you need to peel the very thin inside skin off egg shells before feeding it to them. Is that true or does it not matter?

Even if they eat the food, you wouldn't want them eating something that wasn't completely O.K. would you? seeing as you can't be sure I wouldn't take the chance.
