Ive had problems with my immacs growing anyway, but now with using liquid calcium they have started to grow but its not right. Ive got pics which i think show it, it looks like the new growth is thinner than the old growth so its like its growing in sheets i cant explain but pics show it. what is it and is it normal??

don't worry about it, most start off like this, it's only because they haven't grown for so long and the lip just gets thicker and thicker then al of a sudden they begin to grow again, y'know :-)

Yes, the important thing is that they are growing new shell, it will thicken with time. Val

Yes im thrilled that they are finally growing. Id like them to start developing the adult markings even though the stripes are very pretty. It looks like its growing in sheets, i have a feeling these ones are just going to grow slowly. Ive got other immacs from felix which are growing but not as well as others from the same batch. I just dont seem to be able to get the conditions right for them, my other species are doing really well so i think immaculata just dont suit me!

it been the same with most of us it's a shame, they are so pretty, its not your fault and please don't give up on the species, i have aquired immacs from 3 totally different sources and hopefully will be getting a couple of babies from Felix, if i can get them to adulthood as i already have with 1 and nearly another then i hope eventually to pair them up with different bloodlines in their own tanks and will do my very best to produce healthy babies for everyone to have, and at the same time trying to prove my theory that these non growing babies may be the result of inbreeding :-)

Must be inbreeding, my two from felix are doing ok they have the adult markings almost and are slow but constant growers.
My other species are fulica, marginata, iredalei and just got some limicolaria flammea

I hope they grow nicely for you Mine have gone all scabby over the last few months, it's really annoying. They weren't perfect to start with but they were much better than they are now. Sarahs right, a lot of us have had problems with them so it isn't anything you've done/haven't done.

Mine still look good but they are getting a bit of a rougher texture, thats all 4 not just the bad two. The bad two are starting to get worn away markings in some places. I though cos they arent growing, the bottom part has been dragged around on the floor for months when normally it would have sort have grown off the ground and round a bit

hopefully will be getting a couple of babies from Felix, Just want to say the parents of the babies 2 tones are not related. And the babies are growing, hopefully I can take some pics when they are a bit older since I cannot get my camera take babies pics, the pics always come out blur. Give the babies another month or so, hopefully I can start rehoming them before Summer. I want to make sure they are growing steadily before I rehome them.
