I've 3 A.fulica.... one of them has a 13 cm shell and is 2 years old, the others 2 are only 5cm and are 1 and half year old. They aren't in grow, they has stopped their grow last year, so they are just miniature fulica
Do you think that could be a conseguence of a possible inbreeding? (I don't know if parents was siblings) Do you think that their bebies will be also miniature?
what do you think about that? Have you ever had a similar situation?

I'm afraid it is a very common situation in fulica, in my opinion it is to do with inbreeding, but no one knows for sure, if you breed them and they are siblings, considering they are 'deformed' this could mean that the babies are worse off and may have shell deformaties etc.. tbh i would try and avoid inbreeding, its not worth it and with fulica especially it is not hard to find another of a different bloodline

just to don't propagate this and other kinds of genetic diseases I'll don't have in mind to reproduce the miniatures, also if they are well, they eat, and they have no other deformities, apart the size.
I'm thinking about take a normal adult fulica for breeding with my big one... I don't know... I've to decide ^_^

Sometimes shock treatment helps. You put the snail first in cold water (not too cold) for a second, then warm water, back to cold and warm again... Snailbreeders who breed snails for food use this method for small snails, and it helps them to start grow again. I havent tryid cause all my snails are growing okey, but some my friends say it has worked for their snails.

Well not allways snails have anything wrong with them if they stop growin. If they do have some healt problems then obviously shock treatment doesn't help. I dont really know why that helps some snails, but you loose nothing for trying. As I said before, it has helped some snails that I know! Believe it or not!
