yeh so i was cleaning out the mystery baby tank and under the cuttlefish i found 2 types of pest.
1) 1mm long grey thing, kinda rectangle shaped, wiggled around. lots of them.
2) 1mm wide red-brown mite, not many of these
shud i be worried?

I don't know,but with baby snails it's better to be safe than sorry.

1) 1mm long grey thing, kinda rectangle shaped, wiggled around. lots of them. Could these be some sort of fly larvae, they sound maggot-like, stubby but wriggling. 2) 1mm wide red-brown mite, not many of these These sound like Hypoaspis but that is unlikely.

do you use soil, try using capillary matting, they sell it at B&Q

ok i'll try and find cappillary matting. does it hold moisture well enough to keep the tank humid?

oh yes, i keep mine damp enough so that when i press on it water build around my finger, it's used to keep your plants watered when you go away, it's made to stay wet, and can be cleaned. It also stops your cuttlefish from discolouring and going smelly as an extra bonus

It should be in the nursery area where they keep the propagators (spelling?) and hanging basket liner etc, well thats where mine was anyway
