I was cleaning my baby Fulica tank out today, and found 2 Shells that were empty.
The tank is also infested with the tiny white/clear worms everyone has been getting.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this happened.
Thanks

if you're using compost or soil they could have come from that.

Sorry to hear that Dagger It happens though. How big/small are the babies? And Mikes right, these little 'infestations' can come from anywhere - food, soil, newly introduced snails. Would it be an option to change to capillary matting for your babies? Val has had brilliant success with it and a few other people too - i want to give it a try but my local B&Q never seems to have any . Otherwise all i can suggest is to remove and wash all the snails, remove and sterilise or chuck away the soil in the tank, clean the tank thoroughly with hot water and use fresh soil that you have baked in the oven until really hot to kill any pests that might be living in it. Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of the babies. Anjie,x.

Thanks Mike, but don't worry ;D I'll get some soon i'm sure.
Can you sterilise the matting somehow?? I was just thinking.......when it comes to 'Brixton' time ;D in the Spring I ususaly keep them in bare tanks for the first week then move them onto soil - so i can check for any worms or nasties in their poo easier. I was wondering if i could use capillary matting instead of bare tanks and sterilise it daily somehow, it would be nicer for them and still easy for me to spot anything lurking!! Can you boil it? Machine wash it on a high temperature?? lol.
Anjie,x.

I don't see why you can't pour boiling water on it
