I have never kept these type of snails but I feel for you..it seems a bit strange that all of them are acting this way..suggests a envoirenment issue...how old are they..and what the life expectancy of this snail..Linda

By phlegmatic do you mean, they are producing thick mucus? I have some African snails that have become inactive, not eating or moving and producing thick slime. I spray them everyday to wake them up but they soon go back to sleep. I've tried everything imaginable to no avail. But mine are ill because it has only affected 2 snails.
With Helix pomatia being european snails, could it be too hot for them in your tank? Perhaps they are lethargic because of this.
Check for mites also, this would explain why they are all like this. You'll have to look very carefully, including in the breathing hole.

pheonixx, Paul, thanks for your help! my snails are not too old and i think all these problems are because of too hot and dry atmosphere in their house. just today they had a bath and now my snails are moving activly and eat a lot !
