Well this was a surprise i went into my snail tanks and found a few kinds of mites and worms mite one - small and fast white mite two - large fat slow also white mite three- small black running on snails shells mite four - red bummed mites i think the worms are a larvae form of the flies except one which measures around 1-2cm in length on the sides of the tanks i am going to get rid of all the substrate, bath snails daily and thouroughly clean out the tanks anything else i can do?

Keep them on bare tanks for a bit, and make sure you remove poo and old food daily. ;D

I was thinking - could the two white mites and the one with the red bum be the same species? Maybe the red bum is because they're blood sucking evil little gits? ;D I know the mites we've just had here were white and there were different sizes. I did once see a tiny brown one too, but I just assume that's after they've had a drink. Sending my sympathies though because it's a pain in the backside! Hope it's easily remedied
