Ive just aqquired 2 new snails and in the last 2 days they've both changed colour well their shell has from really dark brown to a green/light brown colour. they are both adults and i think are fulicia. they are both active and eating well the tank is normal damp condition with coir. ive noticed a mite investation today and i have delt with it. is this the reason ? and when do i put the new coir in straight away or leave them in a bare tank and then bath again and then put the coir in ? also is the change in colour a illness i cant find anything on it.

I think it might be a too wet thing, as Cooper changes colour when he's too wet. None of my others do it to the same extent, most not at all. But to be fair, the time when he was overwet was when he was in a bare tank getting over mites and a rorn mantle, so it could be an indicator of being ill? I've found when mine are under the weather, their flesh gets lighter - maybe that has something to do with it too?
So...erm...basically I dont know. But I know what you're talking about!

Do you have a bright light shining at or near the tank, when i fitted a lamp to my tanks, my fulicas shells chenged from black/brown to green, its nothing to worry about, and no need to change anything
