Pests like mites, nematodes, springtails etc. seem to be one of the commonest problems discussed on the board. Does anyone else find that they appear like magic whenever they use sphagnum moss? I have cleared my mites up with Hypoapsis, and they stayed clear for months on coir or multipurpose compost, then as soon as I put moss in, back they come. I now prefer to use coir with cork bark or flowerpot hides and perhaps a water bowl for humidity, and avoid the moss altogether.`

It could be the fact that moss holds both air and moisture well so they have a perfect breeding ground.
