It's been 24 since the hypoaspis were introduced to the tanks, to start with I could see them all running around, but now I can see nothing at all. I've not seen any actually on the snails either. I suppose I was expecting all out warfare as they hunted for the pest mites but am a little disappointed.
Is this normal for them to have seemingly disappeared? I know they can't have escaped as I am having the same situation in my Slug tank which I know is escape proof (I have to seal the tank with cling film and air daily as my pancake slugs are far too adept at escaping!)
I'm probably being impatient... but has anyone else experienced similar goings on?

The Hypoapsis move through the substrate, so they are probably under the surface where you can't see them. It takes a few days or more for them to get to grips with the pests, depending on how badly infested your tanks are. I found I could usually spot a few if I looked really closely but they are hard to see because they are brown, move slower than the pest mites and don't cluster together.

I've just ordered some of these mites, my tiger tank is suddenly crawling with mites inexplicably!! Hoping I will catch all the mites beofre they spread to my baby rodatzi because i would be really upset if anything happened to them. How long does it take for them to arrive in the post??

Depends on when they send them out, I've had them turn up the next day! Usually about 2-3 days.
I'd put some in all your tanks as a safe-guard. The last thing you want is to sort one tank out only to find they've already spread to another.

Hi guys,
I'm pleased to say my fears were unfounded! Rocket the Fulica loves to spend her days hanging from the tank roof and i feared the hypoaspis would not be able to reach her in large enough numbers. How wrong I was!! She is swarming with them at the moment and doesn't seem at all bothered. Here's hoping they will do their job and clear them completely.
