Just looking on ebay I found this cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3983950993&fromMakeTrack=trueAfrican Mopane wood, anyone know if this would be ok for Giant Land Snails? the Africa part interested me, cause' If possible I want to get plants, bark and such from the same continent as the snails, If it is suitable I would certainly buy some, maybe not this auction, but will search for more African Mopane wood, I'm searching for different decorative objects, artificial and real plants and such to create more natural looking snail housing Thanks

Do you want me to sit in the corner and rust, or just fall apart where I'm standing?

I couldn't tell you if its suitable or not but if its from africa its likely that they come across it in the wild so I guess it would be ok. I been trying to think of new ways to make it more interesting to. All they got a the mo is a plant pot which they like to sit on top of.

why? by the way, how big is your tank? mine is roughly [from my memory!] 40cm long, 30 something cm long and 25/7 high. something like that anyway. And I have a small pot half in the soil in there as well. My snails are a 13cm, 9cm, 9cm, 6cm, 3and a half cm and 3cm i think. Uh oh! Another sneezing fit! *sniffs*. Really, I want a longer tank and some of that wood

Im not bidding on the one I linked too, thats too big ;D I should have worded my post better...I plan to get some smaller pieces of it, around 10-20cm or so At the moment I have 4 L.Fulica and 2 A.Dimidiata in a large penpal, one margie in a xxl penpal, the largest ones available, and I have 2 Barbados Snails in a small storage-type container about 25cm long, by about 20cm wide, by about 15cm deep...Their only tiny snails though I have 5 (I think?) large glass tanks, about 4 or 5 large plastic tanks and am getting more tanks in the following weeks

You would have bought all the smaller pieces! I need really small ones, like from 10cm to 15cm I need to talk to my mum about getting a bigger tank.

oh yeah and if that big bit started at 99p then the small bits cant be much I was quoted around £3.50 each for pieces around 20cm x 20cm, I was told maybe a little more or less, so he probably hopes the bidding will go up on his current lots....Its sold by weight, pieces that size are around 2kg. Even if it cant be used for snails, I hope that isnt the case, I can use it for something else, Im considering redecorating a few more of my pets housing

its fine for snails, its just a bit of wood.lol
when ya get it, give it a quick scrub and dienfectant just be on the safe side and ya can stick it in the oven for 20 -30 minutes at a low heat if ya want.

why stick it in the oven? wouldnt it catch fire?

not at a low heat it wont.lol
its to sterilise it, so no nasty parasites or bugs contaminate your tank, nowthing should be put into a tank without it being cleaned and sterilised.
you never know where its been.
i tend to use the microwave myself but size wise it might be too big, 60s in a microwave, nowt survives.lol
