I have been racking my brains for two days trying two think of a suitable container. Glass tanks are heavy and expensive. Plastic ones are a bit small for a number of big snails. Storage boxes are not transparent enough and dont look very nice. A plant propagator could be ideal. Here's one I found earlier. www.greenstream.co.uk/product.asp?numRecordPosition=5&P_ID=186&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=94I've got a feeling that the link wont work. If not, try this one: www.greenstream.co.uk/default.aspThen click on Propagation, then Propagators. The large unheated propagator is only £10.50 and the postage isnt much. Its 30"x15" (76x38cm) and looks as high as it is wide. It also has air vents. I think I'll pop over to a few garden centres on the weekend and have a look around. There's probably loads of different ones online, including heated ones. This was the first site I found.

They look very suitable for snails and much better than those storage boxes,i'm not sure if the airvents will be enough for snails or that you have to drill a few extra holes...

Hmm. I think I'm getting a little carried away. I've just measured my shelf and having a 76cm tank is a bit of a squeeze. That might be a bit big for my first tank anyway The medium is 56x30cm, however I doubt it's any higher than 30cm, which might not be high enough as I'd like to have one very big snail in there + others. I'll have to give them a ring in the morning.

I 'phoned earlier. The dimentions given to me for the large were 48x38x25cm, which is completely different to whats on the website.
I think I'll order that jumbo tommy tank off ebay.
Just need some snails now. One Archachatina Marginata and one Achatina Iredalei wanted!

Mike, do you use heated propagators? I already own one of those but thought it might get too hot!!

They probably dry out the substrate too much, with the cables being on the bottom...
