A five foot rabbit cage? Got a piccie Sarah?
Val was it you who had the plastic tanky type rabbit cage? What do you use instead of the bars on the lid?
My big rabbit cage like that has been eaten by my girlie rats. My littler one is occupied by one rat, and he's too old to evict *lol* but would be interesting for future reference.

Well, it would be easier if I had pics (which I can get tomorrow) but basically I have covered the bars on the INSIDE of the tank with plastic shading. This has only small holes so the snails can't get out and also being plastic enables the snails to slime over it rather than avoiding the metal on the lid. At the moment I also have a cover over the top to keep it nice and warm but in the warmer weather I shall leave the cover off to give them more fresh air. I have also stuck a heatmat on the inside which has a 'guard' made from plastic meshing!! Val

Thanks Val, I may give that a go at some point in the future (when oldie rat moves on to ghostie rat land). Hmm that sounded heartless - didn't mean it like that. *cringe*

Oh, my one has painted metal bars in a hinged lift up lid. Mesh would have been better.

I have one of both. My big one is like that one in the piccie (except with various female rat sized escape hatches chewed out of it!). My other smaller one has a slide out grill.
