this may be a stupid question but I have just got a storage box with no openings etc anywhere and I was just wondering how many air holes shall I put in it? and whether just on the top?

I don't know how many holes you would need as i use glass tanks and vivariums but, imo, I’d put any holes on the side to reduce the amount of hot air u lose (as hot air rises). My glass tanks (with ventilated lids) are a lot harder to maintain temperature and humidity than my vivs (ventilation panels on side). Maybe you should drill a few holes to start with and increase them as needed so you don’t end up over ventilating ur tank

np, i don't think they'd suffocate anyway providing the lid didn't stay closed for long periods. I'd imagine the amount of oxygenated air contained in the tank is more than enough to last a couple of snails for the day (assuming the lids are lifted daily for checks and food changes etc). Not 100% tho All the same, it's better to have a good air flow for the little geezers

The holes don´t need to be drilled only on the side ways, they may be drilled on the top. The snails can hang for days inside a tank without opening the lid, it solely depends on the size of the snail and on the size of the tank.
