I was recently reading up on the legislation of Land Snails in the US and realised I may be able to find other species to keep, kind of like a loophole thing. Does anyone know if these are legal in the US? I could not find them listed on the USDA website so wasn't entirely sure. Also, if anyone knows of anyone else breeding/selling them etc it'd be really helpful.

They are in the family Achatinidae, so I doubt it. I may be wrong though, doesn't the legislation cover snails that are "Achatina." Technically Limicolaria and Archachatina may be legal, I'd check first though, as it could just be a formality with them not realising there's different families and subfamilies of Achatinidae.

I did wonder this myself, as the legislation DOES only state that Achatina and Archachatina including subspecies are banned because of an ongoing threat to the native ecosystem and what not, which is perfectly understandable and everything but surely some species wouldn't prove a threat. I found that my Achatina breed like rabbits given the perfect climate, whereas other species lay entirely differently with maybe one to five eggs. It's such a shame though, if only everyone saw them as we did (:
