Hello everyone.
I'm new here and wanting some advise please. I have two children aged 11 and 7 and we're thinking of getting either some snails or african velvet slugs. I can't find much info out about the slugs so thought i'd ask on here to see if anyone has much experience with these. Which of the two are easiest to look after? Which are more lively etc! Any info would be greatly appreciated. I use to keep reptiles when i was younger but never had any experience with slugs! ;D
Thanks.

Hi Spider, Both Slugs & Snails are both just as avtive as each other, considering all the humidity etc is correct. Um, I would probibly say Snailies are the easiest to look after, but im not sure about that... For info on snails go here; petsnails.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=misc

I would advise you to go for Giant Afrcian Land Snails (GALS) as these would be easier for the kids to handle and I think they would prove more interesting to the kids in the long term. go to our classifieds section:- petsnails.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=classifiedsthere is always someone selling some species of GALS. depending on species, you could get some Achatina fulica for next to nothing or if available some Achatina achatina (tiger snails) or Archachatina marginata (margies) for a few pounds. Brian.

Hi
Thanks for your replies. I've been showing the kids some of the photos on the website of the snails and they really like them so i think we'll see about getting some after christmas. In the meantime i'm going to have a good look through all the info on the forum about housing etc.
Thanks again for your replies ;D
