I posted in the memorial section to let folks know that Sepia, my old female rat, died today. I've seen now that the forum is for snails only, so granted I posted in the wrong bit - either way, someone's deleted it. No pm, no explanation, not moved it - it's gone. So here goes. It was a lovely post - but the basics were, Sepia's dead, I'm gutted, her cagemate is very upset, and that's about it. Sorry for not being more emotional in this post, but I cried enough writing the last one, and it was deleted, so thought I'd best stick to plain facts. Thanks for the sensitive and tactful reaction to my post.

If it was a mod, I think they'd have the sense to move it here rather than delete it so insensitively, so maybe it was a technical glitch?
*Huge hugs for Lisa*

Thanks everyone - losing her has broken my heart because she was such a beautiful lass. Here's the pics I posted on my original thread: With Silva (who came with her from the breeder - sadly she died earlier this year at the vets just after a lump removal op) Wearing Silva as a hat And Fandango (aka Fanny aka Fanny the Wonder Rat), her remaining cage mate, who is only just over a year old now. We got Sepia and Silva as older calm cagemates for Fanny when she was a kitten, as she joined us with a head tilt (caused by swelling in brain), so she was being picked on by her original young cagemates as she had (has) balance problems and when stressed she gets worse. She's taken Sepia's death quite badly and was careering round their cage looking for her and falling off the shellves We've had to put her in a tiny cage for her own safety, when she's calmer she'll move into a larger one storey rabbit cage. She seems a bit calmer today, but she's not eaten much - understandable though. Anyhoo, Sepia's now joined Silva, so that's kind of a nice thing to think as you know she'd be happy there. God I'm soppy. I'm still upset the original post has gone, but after a (very short due to thunderstorms and screaming kids) sleep, I'm not quite as angry - maybe it was a technical glitch rather than just someone deleting it - as that would be a very hurtful thing to do, and I'm sure the mods wouldn't have done something so rude and mean.

Those are beautiful rats! Am so sorry for your loss.
I lost two of my rats to cancer when I was younger and it was a very difficult thing to go through, so I do sympathise with what you are going through.
