Hey!
I wanna order 7 snails from Africa (Camerun) but I'm not sure if this guy is trustful. I wanna order 7 A. achatina (adult).
I found his contact on petsnail.uk: uvnbluv02 (masterjoe02@yahoo.com) Available: we have the african large land achatina achatina and the white immaculate fluxa snails for sale now, they are very nice and loving, great with long life spands, contact us via email or phone for more enquiries.
Is he a trustful guy? I'm looking forward to your fast answer!

I would make sure they send actual pictures beforehand, to identify them as Achatina achatina, and not another species. Also, make sure the picture is not someone else's (post a pic if not sure, Im sure someone would recognise it if it belongs to someone else)
Also, dont send any payment upfront, not even shipping, only when they arrive with you, and if possible agree with the seller to only pay for living snails, with pictures of the shells, or the return of the shells as proof of any dead on arrival's .

You have to be really wary with african sellers.

As far as I understand it, the mods can't do anything about it. You enter the transactions at your own risk...all you can do is ask Paul to erase the ad so no one else can be scamed. Sorry. I know that bristol inverts has margies, I don't know if they're albino thouhg www.bristolinverts.co.uk/shop_snails.php

Its very unlikely that the person ever intended to send the snail, its very important not to send any money upfront to anyone within Africa offering Snails, Cameroon especially is well known for operating scams with Snails. They arent all scammers though, some are genuine and will ask for payment after you receive the snails. It wouldnt have been economical just sending the one Snail, postage may have been around £30-40 minimum by registered airmail from Cameroon to the UK.

you are better off just getting snails from a breeder in the uk or whatever country you live in. i have heard about scams like this before.

Regular forum members advertise their snails from time to time, they do come up for sale. Good luck, you will find one sooner or later, but don't pay over the odds....
Yes unfortunately there's many scammers around. I agree that it's best to stick to UK sellers, or those sellers outside the UK who are known and trusted by other members, but you should be able to buy most species over forums from UK members (cheaper and quicker postage within the UK, no disrespect intended towards none-UK sellers!).

Munch is about 2 inches shell length. How old does that make him roughly?

This is why I always look at my local Pet Shops first. I got Rocket at a cheap 50p from Devon (I was on holiday so I saw him first). My local pet shop here (Stoke, Midlands) they sell young Fulica's for £2.00.

@ LLS&TSS: It wasn't a big pet shop with your huge variety, there was no awing look to it, it was just we stumbled upon it, found a snail for a cheap 50p and there we go. If this helps LLS, we got him in Barnstaple?
