You don't seem to be having an easy time finding live snails I'm not sure where you live but clearly snails do live there too so there must be some that are alive. Try looking under old wood (sheds and fences) - it needs to be damp and away from the sunlight. Leaf mold is good, on walls under plants like ivy etc. When it rains here then there are so many snails on the path outside my house that it is a nightmare walking to the door trying not to tread on them. I think maybe they are getting calcium from the concrete. So paths after rain is another good place. Remember that snails dig down into soil to keep cool too - under hedges and thick vegetation are good, cool places for them to hide. I hope you find some live snails soon

Thank you. I live in Greece. Now I am in Rhodes for summer vacation. It is common to see no rain for the whole summer. The empty shells, as my grandma told me are from the snails used once a year for a special meal... The other dead snails were affected by the weather. So, better look for alive snails in autumn. I have seen many helix aspersa in September- October. Some of them are pretty big!

hmmm...I tried keeping T. pisana as a pet once, they didn't do too well, I don't know about C. acuta, but I doubt it because they're so small.
Aren't there Helix aspersa where you live?
