I have a 2 year old Achatina Fulica which I have just purchased, I also have babies that I have had since March 2008. The reason I and contacting you today is that I have noticed something on Brian (2 year old) that I have not seen on my babies, he has on the right side of his neck a white hole thing that really expands and looks worrying but it does disappear most of the time, I was wondering if you can tell me what this is, its probably nothing but its best to check. Hope you can fill me in.

he must like you . like spook said don't worry. hes just looking for a little lovin . and don't freak out if it sticks right out, he just REALLY likes you if that happens. most people freak on first sighting of this. If i had a penny for everytime i've heard it i'd have... £3.42 . ah, shoulda made it a pound. Anyway when a snail is ready to mate or has mated at some point in their life you'll see a little round lump (sometimes its flat to the skin or slightly indented) on their side near their head. when they are looking to mate their "love dart" will stick out. it'll go after a bit.

Sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but that was quite funny. Please don't worry, as the other Posters here have all ready told you, it's all perfectly normal, and nothing to worry about.
