I have 2 GALS had them since they were tiny almost 3 years now. They keep sealing up. I managed to persuade them out last weekend with a warm bath and some cucumber, but they have done it again. They are in the house in the warm so I cant understand why. Shall I just leave them or would you try to coax them out? Thanks

Do you have a thermometer in the tank? The first thing I would do is try to find out the temperature in there.

No I dont have a thermometer. It is quite warm though. Do they hibernate normally?

It's worth investing in a thermometer, even if it's a very cheap one - you can get them for a pound or two. Snails don't hibernate in the same way bears do, but if the conditions are too cold, too dry etc. they will seal themselves in to wait it out.
Bear in mind that a heat mat that works well for most of the year, keeping the tank at the right temperature, might not cope with a sudden cold spell, and some snails are pretty sensitive. 'Quite warm' may not be hot enough for a species that prefers high temperatures. It's worth having a backup mat or heat lamp around to compensate.

wilkos do aquarium thermometers for 99p that still measure the temp fine and they have a red bit around the sorta temp the snail tank should be for most species, that could be handy. a second heatmat or a stronger one could help, along with using warm water to mist the tank and putting insulation around it. And daily warm baths for the snails then pop them on some food.

Snails do hibernate durring the colder months when food is sparse and the temp. drops. but in captivity with constant heat and a good food supply they shouldn't need to hibernate.
