What a funny subject! Anyways, I open the tank the other morning to say hi and there's this funny smell - so I look a bit closer and my daughter comes running in and says "have you seen, mummy, the snailies have laid eggs!", but they weren't eggs - there was a large marginata snail on some bogwood and around the foot and nearby there were these white sticky things that LOOKED like squashed small soft eggs (not like margie eggs, like fulica eggs) I suppose about 7 of them all squished together. They didn't smell nice at all - really can't describe the smell but very strong. It wasn't poo. WHAT ARE THEY? Can anyone tell me? I am baffled! It's now happened about twice since, only in that one tank.

That is a puzzle... the only thing that comes to mind is perhaps the snail is for some reason unable to carry eggs to term (for lack of a better phrase). The blobs could be unsuccessful attempts.
Has is it been the same snail both time? What other snails are in there?

tis odd isn't it? I've 11 margies in that tank, of different species and size. I know which snail it was the first time as the blobs were around that one, and even on him. the largest dark skinned margie we've got - but the other times I don't know, like this morning I found some more but no snails nearby. All the snails in the tank are healthy and active and eating well ....

From the description I can't think of what it might be. Can you post a pic of it?

If you tried to post a pic, it doesn't seem to be showing up.
