As we area all aware varous foods we feed our snails have various water content, i was wondering whether anyone has noticed their snail drinking more ( from a water bowl or wherever water is available ) depending on the food given.
I was pondering this when recently examining a day old piece of sweet potato which is a tough as old leather ( sweet pots seem very fibrous when being sliced - but i havent checked the nutritional value ) however the cucumber/lettuce is obviously lower in caloric value and higher in water content.
Has anyone done research into this, because it may be if our snails are regularly fed on calorie dense foods with lower water content we would be wise to include a water source in their tanks.

Well I havnt done any research since i got no snails But logically, the snails probably easier can absord water from watery food compared to..drier ones. So i think that it probably wouldnt hurt to have a little bowl with some water in, even if the snails wouldnt really have any need of the bowl, they would probably at least like to take a bath every now and then xD

A couple of mine spend a night sitting in their water bowl after I feed them red pepper, but apart from that I haven't noticed any correlation. They love dozing in their bowls anyway, though, so it may not be a factor.

mine always drink the little beads of water on the tank walls even if they get cucumber and iceberg, so can't really help there.

Mine drink / sit in water bowl more due to hot / dry weather, not food. But then I live in California with hot, dry summers, so that's more of a factor for mine.
