Stage one is complete! Using just the furniture I already had and some abandoned bricks from the garden, I have a tolerable display unit. The middle two units have internal LED lighting, daylight and moonlight, on timers. The other two have improvised clip-on external lights, to be replaced by LEDs like the others in Stage Two, which will also involve hiding some of the more obvious wiring that wouldn't fit where I'd intended it to go. The one on the lower left has no central interesting bit of wood yet, but that, like LEDs, will have to wait until next month. I'll also rig some blank beech panels over the bricks. I did have to displace a fair number of books, but I'll find a way to fit them all in. As it sits, there's room for two more 24" tanks on the top row if I move the current occupants. Modified BiOrb on the shelf for now, still doing fine. As it's the middle of the afternoon, the snails are still fast asleep, but you must take my word for it that they look charmingly elegant in their new surroundings. *And* it has B's stamp of approval I declare Stage One a success. There's also a 36" tank like these on a built-in shelf unit on another wall which holds the retic colony. Photos of that when I've got some proper lighting set up.

Ade, I am shocked that you would think I might notice spelling. Shocked, I say The snails have really faired better with BSL than with Old English, bless. If there were more works in that language that included snails, I think they'd try harder, but as it is they're just humouring me. (I'd be ready witha smart remark if only I could figure out how to make this thing do the right characters )

I'd read your old english saga of rambo snail. And I'd read it aloud to the entire household

Fie!Thou olde worlde speech maketh mine head hurteth in a most grandeth way. Mayhap thou speaketh in a more genteel tounge, or doth thou heads be filled with the clouds of secrecy? Surely thou art willing to share thine conversation with the other gentlefolk of this forum? - any good?

That's somewhere between middle english and early modern, but you do get points for even attempting the pronouns

I dunno, a few years ago someone did Chaucer's livejournal in near perfect middle english. It's amazing what you can crowbar in and still have it look and sound as it should

"a forumeth of the most genteel kind, bequeathing to all the knowledge of thine most pondorous companion, the noble snail, whose shell doth shine e'en as the stars themselves do shine, all who gaze upon its multitude of wonders art truly blessed, for only the wisest of bards do recount tales of those most chilvalrous knights "

I did, and I'd wear it on a tshirt too.
Then again, I have a Henry II for Lord Justice tshirt, and one from the Hugs for King John compaign.
Obscure and pointless tshirts ftw.
(Omg, that doesn't make me a geek, does it? :-O )

nah, but the fact I want my dads spare yoda figure from his star wars figurine collection makes me one . I am now gonna get that printed on a t-shirt. that and one saying "give me your spare yoda". Most of my t shirts have AR slogans to be honest, I'm a walking peta ad.
