Hiya... When I got Bernie out for his bath, I noticed that his flesh around his 'tail' and on his back is darker - it is turning yellow.... Is this normal or should I be (more) worried...? Hattie is still very white... Bernie is the baby WJ who was sick when I got him, and *still* after a month has not grown AT ALL... Any ideas about this... I thought it could have been dryness, but I gave him a good rub and his flesh feels the same as all the others... He is eating well and is very active... I'm stumped

The flesh of A. fulica [jade] does darken to yellow with age. Aging? Albino retics can also. The difference between adults and hatchlings is quite signifigant.

Bernie is only a few months old!!! But perhaps - if he is a little unwell too maybe that is contributing...
Thanks everyone, I will carry on keeping an eye on him - I am getting worried that he's not grown any new shell for some time - Hattie is his sister, and she is twice the size of him, if not more...

and my retics are only a bit bigger than the size of my thumbnail. I hope Bernie will be ok, I know you are doing your best to make sure he's happy and healthy. Sometimes snails take a while to start growing, and have huge gaps between growth spurts. It might be worthwhile feeding Bernie on his own once a day, so you can see how much he eats, although he may not be hungry at the time, so it may not be much.

He lives with only his sister, and I give them their own pieces of food, so I know that he eats a bit - he actually eats quite a bit, I am worried he'll get fat and split his seams!!!!
Maybe his tail is just darker in pigment than the rest of him...
I will keep an eye on him and his eating habits closely and keep ypu posted....
Thanks everyone ;D

yes this is compleatly normal mine change from pure white to yellow the next the i think i have figured the temp and humidity changes the colour, maybe just a co-incidence but its fine.
