Well im off on holiday a week on friday and dont have a clue whos looking after the snails i dont think im leaving it to my sisters because they said they wont clean up the poop ( which is bad coz ill end up with mites ) and they will feed them, but im not sure i trust them so im going to ask a friend, what information could i give so the snails are ok ( i know the basic feed them, take out old food replace it with new, spray but is there anything else they should do? Im really scared of leaving them because my friend doesnt know much about snails and the humidity and heat, Also i would half to put all 4 of them in a storage box half the size of their tank, will they be ok? Thankyou in advance.

Well when i have gotten my snails im gonna be just like you when ill visit my boyfriend that lives in Holland Id trust my snails to my family since well, i dont got anyone else but them to turn to Just tell your snail-sitter to give them fresh food every day and also maybe check up on the humidity and warmth in the tank. You could write a little note with some easy to understand lines, including maybe examples of what food your snailsitter could feed them. Well they might get a bit cramped, dunno how big your tank is and your snails size But as long as they get cared for properly otherwise i think it will be fine ^^

Well you could always ask your friend, i mean friends are there to help ^^ But you said your family wont clean up the poop, but htey would feed the snails? How come they wont clean up after them? Its just to use a shuffle or something, maybe those things you play with in sandboxes or use for cats They wouldnt need any contact at all with it xD They could even use gloves Oo

I leave an old teaspoon and a pair of rubber gloves so they can clean the poop. I'm having to take my baby snails away with me cos I don't trust my snail sitter enough. She's not too bad with the larger ones. At least she hasn't killed any off yet like my mum did. When I picked them up from her the tank was really wet and stank. One of my albino reti's was ill and he died shortly after. She'd put the tank in front of the radiator (which was on full) with the heat mat on and was going to town with the spray.
If my caravan was bigger i'd take them all, much to my husbands disgust.

How long are you away for and how many snails have you got? I would have thought a week would be OK to leave the poop if you've only got a few snails and if you clean it up once you get back.

I think its great, my snails used to go on my holidays to cornwall with me, although tha tanks I have now are rather big, so it'd just be the retics probally.

I would have thought they'd be fine just with spraying and food changing. I don't think the poop left in the tank for a week would be a huge problem...
