I had for week Banana plant in tank, but then it grow too big to be there. They loved to eat those leaves. When they ate the leaves it was very noise meal when I watched and listened them eating. =D But "normal" banana, they won't eat I will try Arican or banana which are suitable for cooking sometime soon.

I got fulicas and retics, and I've noticed that they prefer vegetables instead of fruit and berries, and they used to eat almost only lettuce and cucumber, but then I thought I'd try and offer them some soaked fishflakes, and they loved that(!), and now, they arnt really that very picky anymore, dunno if it got something to do with the fishflakes =/. They used to never eat tomatoe or nectarine, but when I offer it now, they actually eat abit of it, same with carrots, altho they will only have a nibble of it if I have sliced it up a bit with a potatoslicer, spoiled brats... *lol*

I didn't realise many snails dont like grapes, I would have expected it to get well received but this explains why my baby tigers didnt even try theirs..green or purple it was a big no no.
So far they've only been eating little bits of apple, carrot, cucumber is the favorite & a small nibble at some watercress & wee bit of their baby snail mix food. I hoping the variety aswell as amount increases as they grow (so i dont have to pick it all out of the tank in the morning LOL)

I can't get my snails to eat sweet potatos, I keep trying but none of the 18 will touch it, they are being spoilt with home grown lettuce cucumbers and tomatos though, they even choose home grown over ones from shops.

Since I was worried about my tiger babies not eating what in 'my opinion' was enough i started grating their food up aswell as giving slices etc..this seems to work. I also changed their food every day but one evening i was working till after midnight so didnt do it till the following day & they had eaten more of the grated cucumber etc than normal so maybe they prefer it not so fresh ?
I am still in shock about how much damage they did when my cuttlefish finally arrived...jeepers for 2 little guys (2cm length shells) they can certainly knock big craters in the cuttlefish LOL...we can also easily hear them rasp on it which i didnt expect till they were bigger !

I'm going to give grating sweet potato a try do worry about them not getting more variety in their diet, though they like babycorn that's been left in the fridge for a week and gone soft. mine don't touch cuttle fish a lot but maybe that's because I bought loads of different calcium powders from ebay and put it on their cucumber.

I just hope my lot dont expect me to grate their food all their lives As they grow I plan to use the larger size grater bit for them but just now i do the smallest size although they have sliced pieces aswell & do eat from sliced cucumber. My husband was gobsmacked when he watched me spend half an hour preparing & grating about 4 different items & then strategically placing various sliced items around the tank. Siobhan have you tried the algae wafers ? they seem to go down well.

My tanks are full of neon-orange super-poo!!!!! ;D *chuckle* I know how that is... neon orange or green. Avery is VERY picky, and seems to change his mind from week to week over what he likes. When I first got him he would only eat cucumber. After a couple of months he finally started looking at the other foods I put in for him. I can only assume his previous owner only ever fed him cucumber. He's eaten pear, but tends to ignore it. He doesn't like apples or strawberries but he loves tomatoes, sometimes over his cucumber. And he only likes certain varieties of lettuce, thankfully all the more common, cheap ones. I tried him on spinach this week... not a peep. Guess I'll give grated sweet potato and some sweet corn a try XD

My Brian is a contrary little sod. He went crazy for corn which is really expensive where i am, then all of a sudden went off it?! also did the same with mangoes, went massively hyper for the day (sugar rush i assume?) then turned his nose up at a very posh mango we got for him! I'm a student so money is tight when there's a spoilt snail about! He gets all the nice fresh food and i fight with seagulls in bins for my dinner...
