I recently lost Ivan and today Pjotr, I dont know what caused their deaths but the worst part is the other 3 seems to be sick too! I've isolated all the sick pomatias and thrown out a lot of stuff from their old tank but I don't know what else to do..

Very sorry to hear about your poor snails dying Maybe try taking out all substrate and cleaning the whole tank with hot water, cleaning all tank ornaments and decorations, giving all the snails a warm soak in water, and giving them brand new substrate... give them some tried-and-tested food that they like and make sure it's washed very well. Good luck - I hope the others recover.

Thanks guys, it's quite bad at the moment. Boris is showing symptoms but he seems active and Olga and Nevtjenka seems more unaffected. They never really spend much time with boris, ivan and pjotr though so I think they might be ok. They all live together in the same tank but it's a very large and vegetated tank and they more or less move in fixed groups within it. Boris however always hanged around with Ivan and pjotr and he definetly seems to be sick.
And as a few people have contacted me, worried about the pomatias they've bought from me during the past months I would just like to say to all of you who have gotten poms from me that i don't think there's any risk for your snails. I've only seen symptoms a day or two before the deaths so I dont think this virus or what it might be have been around for very long. I've keept all snails i've sold separated from my own crew in a tank of their own. There are still some pomatias in that tank and they seem fine so I think it's limited to just one tank and within that tank just one species. If any of your snails show symptoms and/or die I would like it if you let me know.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Hope they get better soon -hugs- I agree with rachel/TSS, green tea baths do seem to help, they made Humbug seem less poorly when he was ill, and i think it takes away stress for them too/relaxes them more. -finger crossed- they get better soon. xxx

I've been able to spot a symptom that all the snails that seemed sick have, and both ivan and pjotr had it when I found them dead. By this symptom I've ruled out that Njevtjenka is sick but both Boris and Olga are definatly sick. The symptom is that the mantle looks redish and iritated- Pjotr had some mantle problems a week or so prior to his death. He had earlier had a mantle colapse, not really full scale, that he recovered from so I think he might have been more receptive to this disease.
The good news are that the green tea baths seem to ease the inflamation in their mantles and they are more active now so my hopes are up a bit again.
