Its something I have noticed once in a while with my snails, everyday around 15:30 I prepare their food and also take them out of the tank to remove poop and also check up on them, plus giving them a shower. And the thing is, its like one time a day, I can find one single little mite or what it is, moving across the shell of one single snail, I do give my snails a shower everyday and they all love it and come out right away. And I always handle the snails a little bit after their shower and then put them on the foodplate for them to slime around a bit before putting them back into the tank, where they slime around to find a suitable spot to sleep only to wake up a bit later. So they dont seem to be ill or so. But what I wonder is, is it something normal these mitestuff I got? I been searching both plants and substrate and I really cant spot anything, and I do have rather good eyes (heck can even spot a black ant on a darkgray asphalt) Only thing that I have detected other than the mite is a fruitfly or two but its really isnt more than that

Are you taking the food they dont eat out at the end of each day? Because if your not this could be whats causing the mite problem. Personally i would change the substrate it could be the soil your using, change the soil and see if things change? If your not taking out the food at the end of each day then it might be that not the soil, just experiment with it. Maybe even take the snails out give them a nice bath and wash everything in the tank and start all over again and take out food at the end of each day and keep up on poo cleaning and snail baths. Hope that helps.

Well my schedule for the snails looks like this: First thing in the morning when I wake up, around 07:00 - 09:00, I remove all old food and also take a look after dragged away foodstuffs, and throw it away. About 15:30 I prepare new food and then give the snails a shower and remove all poop I can find in the tank, then I pretty much let the snails slime around a bit on top of the tank investigating the meal of the day before putting them and the food into the tank. Im using a naturall garden peat as substrate for my snails, and have done so since I got them And when they lived in smaller storageboxes I really couldnt notice anything odd, was after I had put them in the big tank with real plants that I began spotting this daily mite. I did wash the plants through when I got them before I placed them in the tank, and maybe once in every 1 -1½ week I rinse the plants again. Its jsut so odd that if it would be a mite infestation, that I only see one single mite a day, and sometimes its less =/

I've had these issue recently as well. My snail Gary had three crawling on his one day, and I squished them all immediately. I isolated him and kept a close eye on him, but didn't see anymore so I put him back in the tank with the others. About a week later I found a solitary mite on one of my Groves, Rosy, and again squished the bugger.
Is it possible for them to somehow come inside from outside? Or perhaps in food even if it's been washed?
